Therapy in English

If you’re looking for therapy in English—with a warm, rigorous, and practical approach—you’re in the right place.

At Clínicas Nakoa, we work with a clear method: we understand what’s happening, define realistic goals, and build a plan that fits you. No vague advice. No pressure. Just a safe, structured space to move forward.

We offer all our psychological services in English: individual, couples, family, teen and child therapy—plus EMDR when clinically appropriate.

What you can expect from therapy at Clínicas Nakoa

Therapy isn’t about “being strong” for longer. It’s about making sense of what’s happening and changing what keeps you stuck.

Our work is:

  • Goal-oriented: we define what “better” means for you.
  • Evidence-based: we use validated approaches and tailor them to your needs.
  • Practical and deep (when needed): tools you can apply, plus space to process what’s underneath.
  • Human and non-judgmental: you don’t have to explain yourself perfectly to be understood.

What we work on (common reasons people start therapy)

People come to therapy for many reasons. Some arrive in a clear crisis; others have been carrying “too much” for too long.

Common topics include:

  • Anxiety (overthinking, panic symptoms, fear of losing control, social anxiety)
  • Stress & burnout (constant pressure, exhaustion, perfectionism, work overload)
  • Low mood (sadness, lack of motivation, emotional numbness)
  • Self-esteem & boundaries (guilt, people-pleasing, self-criticism)
  • Trauma & difficult experiences (when the past still feels “present”)
  • Grief and life transitions (breakups, loss, moving countries, identity shifts)
  • Relationship patterns (attachment, conflict cycles, communication)
  • Sleep problems linked to anxiety or stress
  • Adjustment abroad (loneliness, cultural shock, feeling “not at home”)

If your situation doesn’t fit a label, that’s completely fine. The first session helps clarify it.

Our services in English

Individual Therapy (Adults)

A space to regulate anxiety and stress, improve self-esteem, work through difficult experiences, and build sustainable changes—at your pace, with a clear direction.

Couples Therapy

A neutral space to understand what’s happening between you, improve communication, reduce repetitive conflict cycles, and rebuild trust—or make decisions with clarity.

Family Therapy

A systemic approach to help families navigate conflict, boundaries, roles, and transitions. Especially helpful when the same issues repeat and no one knows how to “reset” the dynamic.

Teen Therapy

Support adapted to adolescence: emotional regulation, anxiety, social pressure, identity, self-esteem, relationships, and academic stress—without labels or judgment.

Child Therapy

Psychological support adapted to age and development, with parent guidance when needed. We work on emotions, fears, behavior, self-esteem, and family dynamics.

EMDR (when appropriate)

EMDR is a structured, evidence-based approach used for trauma and other experiences that still activate distress in the present (intrusive memories, intense emotional reactions, blocks, hypervigilance, etc.).
It’s not used automatically—we assess clinically, build safety first, and integrate EMDR only when it truly fits your case.

Online Therapy in English

All services can also be done online, with the same clinical quality and structure. Online sessions work especially well when you need flexibility, continuity, or prefer therapy from home.

How the first session works

The first session is about clarity and direction:

  1. We explore your current situation and context
  2. We define goals (realistic and meaningful)
  3. We agree on a plan and a rhythm that’s sustainable

Sessions typically last around 50 minutes (depending on the service).

A safe, inclusive space

We work from a respectful, inclusive and affirmative perspective. Therapy should feel safe—especially if you’ve had to explain yourself or protect yourself for too long.
